"I'm just happy to be here," Alcaraz said. "This is my first time playing in a Grand Slam, and it's an amazing experience. I'm learning so much and I'm just trying to take it all in."
Alcaraz was asked about his thoughts on his opponent. "Jeffrey is a great player," Alcaraz said. "He's a very aggressive player and he makes you work for every point. I'm happy that I was able to come out on top today."
Looking Ahead to the Second Round
Alcaraz will face off against Casper Ruud in the second round. Ruud is the No. 8 seed in the tournament and is one of the favorites to win the title.
"Casper is a great player," Alcaraz said. "He's a very solid player and he doesn't make many mistakes. I'm going to have to play my best tennis if I want to beat him."
Alcaraz is confident that he can make a run in the tournament. "I believe in myself," Alcaraz said. "I'm confident that I can win this tournament. I'm just going to take it one match at a time and see what happens."
