Early Life and Career

Matthew David Duchene, pronounced dyʃɛːn, was born on January 16, 1991, in Haliburton, Ontario. He began playing ice hockey at a young age and joined the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) in 2007.

NHL Career

Duchene was drafted third overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut in 2009 and played for the Avalanche until 2017. During this time, he established himself as a skilled and consistent scorer. In 2017, Duchene was traded to the Ottawa Senators. He spent two seasons with the Senators before being traded again in 2019 to the Columbus Blue Jackets. In 2021, he signed a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators.

Recent Success

In 2022, Duchene signed with the Dallas Stars. He has played a key role in the team's success, helping them reach the Western Conference finals in 2023. Duchene's clutch performance in the playoffs has garnered widespread recognition.

Stats and Contract

Throughout his NHL career, Duchene has recorded impressive stats. As of 2023, he has scored 231 goals and 379 assists in regular season play. He has also represented Canada at the international level, winning gold medals at both the 2015 IIHF World Championship and the 2022 Winter Olympics.
