Second Consecutive F1 Sprint Pole for Norris

Lando Norris has taken pole position for the F1 Sprint at the Austrian Grand Prix, marking his second successive Sprint pole after starting from the front in Brazil last season.

Practice and Qualifying Schedule

First practice: 04:30 BST
Sprint qualifying: 08:30 BST
Qualifying for tomorrow's 19-lap Sprint race: 15:30 local time (08:30 BST) on Friday

Sprint Qualifying Format

The Sprint qualifying will consist of three sessions, with the slowest five cars eliminated at the end of the first two sessions. However, unlike previous Sprint races, the sessions will be cut to just 20 minutes each.

How F1 Sprint Races Work

Separate qualifying sessions
Drivers compete in a pair of qualifying sessions
One after practice on Friday, for 20 minutes each
The finishing order of the second qualifying session sets the grid for the Sprint race
The Sprint race is held on Saturday, lasting 100km or about 30-40 minutes
The result of the Sprint race determines the starting grid for Sunday's Grand Prix
